Advanced conservation genetics

Presented by This workshop will focus on principles of population genetics and some of its wider applications in conservation biology. This workshop will have 2 parts. In the first part we will discuss theoretical aspects through case studies and interpreting results from published work. The second part will be method based covering widely used sampling and analytical methods in molecular ecology. Main aims and goals: To introduce participants to theoretical concepts and analytical tools in molecular ecology Participants will have a clearer understanding of the processes that drive genetic patterns and will be equipped to ask basic questions and interpret results from their work. Target audience:The workshop will be hands-on and therefore, will be more suitable to the researchers, who have been or are currently using molecular genetic methods in their studies. We encourage participants to come with data (mitochondrial or nuclear sequences or microsatellite) from their own projects, so that a discussion in the workshop can directly contribute to their ongoing research. Workshop organisers:Shomita Mukherjee, Subhankar Chakraborty and Vishnupriya Kolipakam
