Presented by The workshop aims at developing an understanding of the key environment regulations under which approvals for industrial and infrastructure projects is sought in forest and wildlife areas. Through practical sessions, help participants understand the conditions under which these approvals are sought and how practitioners and scientists can play an role in both framing of conservation focused conditions and effectively monitor their compliance.  It will also explore if clearly framed conditions and their strict compliance  can become a necessary but not sufficient condition in reducing damage to ecological habitats and species.   What will the student get out of the workshop? An understanding of the regulatory framework which influences land use change for construction of infrastructure and industrial projects in India across habitats. It will also help understand whether conservation practitioners and scientists can play a role in framing and ensuring compliance of legally mandated conditions for better environmental outcomes.
