This will be an open, interactive session where we discuss the values and reasons for conservation, with the intention of giving each student the chance to develop his or her own lifetime “mission statement” as a budding conservationist.
In this open session, the students and I will have a semi-structured conversation about why they think conservation matters and what arguments and positions they would present/adopt in dealing with issues where species and habitats are at risk from human pressures. If students are agreeable, they may write their own philosophical statements on this, on why they want to be conservationists, and get them to discuss it.
