Among the many pitfalls that make publishing a research paper a game of snakes and ladders, failure to format references correctly and not observing the conventions associated with expressing quantities in SI units (Système International d’Unités) are probably the most common. The workshop seeks to show the participants how to deal effectively with these obstacles. When it comes to presenting the results of research, illegible slides are the most common cause of unsuccessful presentations. As an antidote, the workshop shows seven ways to guarantee legibility on screen.

Each participant is required to make a 5- to 7-minute presentation on a work-related topic of his or her choice as part of the workshop.
