Artists’ Corner — Participation Guidelines

The Artists’ Corner at SCCS Bengaluru celebrates the intersection of art, storytelling, and conservation. This curated space provides artists and creative practitioners an opportunity to showcase works inspired by biodiversity, wildlife, sustainability, and environmental themes while engaging with conference participants through meaningful conversations and creative expression.

What’s the Gig?

It’s a dedicated exhibition space within the SCCS Bengaluru conference where artists can display and discuss artworks connected to nature, wildlife, ecology, and conservation. Think of it as a creative dialogue between art and environmental action.

Conference Duration

The conference will run for four days.

Who Gets to Display?

  • Only six artists will be selected.
  • Three artists will display on Days 1 & 2.
  • Three different artists will display on Days 3 & 4.
  • The Organising Committee (OC) will decide the display slots.

Who Can Apply?

  • Visual artists, illustrators, designers, and crafters working on biodiversity, conservation, or sustainability themes.
  • Independent artists, artist collectives, and small creative businesses.
  • Students and early-career artists are strongly encouraged to apply.

Please Note: Decorative artwork without a clear environmental or conservation connection may not be selected.

Selection & Curation

Applications will be curated by the Organising Committee based on:

  • Strength of themes and concepts.
  • Originality and creativity.
  • Diversity of artistic styles, viewpoints, and geographic representation.
  • Potential to encourage dialogue with conference participants.

Application Process

  • Applications will open following the official Call for Artists announcement.
  • Applicants must be physically present during the conference dates.
  • Shortlisted artists must complete conference registration to confirm participation.
  • Only a limited number of artists will be shortlisted.
  • Displayed products should be unique and should not substantially overlap with items sold at another stall.

What You Receive

  • Conference registration.
  • Display space for exhibiting artwork.
  • Access to conference sessions and meals.

Accommodation is not included. Participants may contact the organisers separately to arrange accommodation at an additional cost.

While Displaying

  • Interact with attendees and share the inspiration behind your work.
  • Artists are encouraged to display sketches, notes, or process documentation where possible.
  • Please maintain an open, welcoming, and conversation-friendly display environment.

Can You Sell Your Work?

Yes. Artists may sell artworks, prints, and small merchandise during the conference.

However, all displayed or sold products must be ethically sourced and aligned with conservation values.

Strictly Prohibited: The use or sale of wildlife-derived materials or products harmful to the environment.

Logistics & Display Setup

  • Each selected artist will receive a basic display setup including two tables and panel/wall space (venue permitting).
  • Artists are responsible for arranging any additional stands, frames, or display supports required for their work.
  • Please share details of any additional setup requirements in advance.

Spread the Word

Selected artists are encouraged to promote their participation and tag SCCS Bengaluru on social media platforms.

Final Decision

The Organising Committee (OC) reserves the right to make the final decisions regarding artist selection, allocation of display dates, and placement of artworks within the venue space.
